Character: Iris Amicitia
Age: 15
Canon: Final Fantasy XV
Canon Point: Chapter 8, just after seeing the party off to Altissia.
Background: FFXV | Iris
Personality:
Though she may not be one of FFXV's primary party members, Iris is a character that goes through a fair bit of development over the course of the canon's timeline - the Iris that we see in the main game is quite different than how she was in her childhood. We see in the Brotherhood anime that as a younger child she was prone getting herself lost, crying, and throwing tantrums. However, her honest nature can still be seen at this early point in her life - instead of having Noctis take the blame for her disappearance, she admits her wrongdoing. That being said, Iris hasn't quite grown out of being a "little sister" yet. At age fifteen, she still calls her older brother Gladiolus by a cutesy nickname, gets excited about spending time with the boy she likes, and definitely still enjoys being spoiled. Her relationship with Gladio is fairly strong, though she does ignore him in favour of Noctis from time to time - as expected of a teenager with a crush.
Though Iris may not be as heavily trained in combat as her brother, she is by no means delicate. She joins the party for a period of time without a weapon, but is a useful asset to the group rather than a weight that needs to be carried. In addition to keeping Noctis and the gang topped off on health from afar, she also teams up with her brother to dish out barehanded attacks that can be powerful enough to destroy a magitek trooper in one blow. She's able to keep up and prove herself in her own right - a quality that continues to be reflected after the game's ten-year timeskip, when her hunting prowess has earned her the title of "Daemon Slayer". True to her family's Crownsguard lineage, Iris is a hard worker with her own resolve to protect not only the royal family, but anyone in need of a helping hand.
Iris is not nearly as physically strong or gruff as her brother can be, but being an Amicitia means that she can be just as strong as him in spirit. Even in the wake of her father's death and the collapse of her home, Iris keeps an incredibly stiff upper lip and positive outlook for someone her age. After the fall of Insomnia at the hands of the Niflheim Empire, she consistently moves forward and doesn't outwardly dwell on the tragedies of the recent past. She is independent, but by no means is she self-centered - she and her fellow refugees, Talcott and Jared, look after one another as they seek refuge in Lestallum.
Iris' relationship with Noctis also gives us a little more insight on her nature. Having harboured an innocent crush on him since childhood, it's no secret that she is thrilled when they have the opportunity to spend time together. However, she remains well-aware that they can never be anything more than friends, both because of his position as heir to the throne and his engagement to Lunafreya. She is realistic in understanding that her feelings are unrequited, and knows the repercussions and complications that could come about from voicing them. Because of this, she keeps them to herself for the sake of others and refuses to let herself be blinded by love. She treasures Noctis' friendship far too much to ruin it with outward jealousy, or even a confession. Her part in Noctis' journey is largely that of an observer, but she intends to support him every step of the way as a dedicated friend and ally.
Abilities: Unlike other party characters in Final Fantasy XV, Iris doesn't have any particular prowess or training in combat. Her fighting ability is limited to bare punches and kicks, but she can hold her own in battle if she has backup or is in a pinch. She also has a little bit of a green thumb, but is otherwise pretty normal.
Alignment: I'm gonna go with Peromei! There are other alignments that I think could fit Iris, but the consistently cheerful attitude and hope that she maintains even as the world around her slowly falls into ruin is a quality that I don't think should be overlooked. Even after the dawn disappears, she acts as a beacon of that hope by taking daemon hunting into her own hands.
Other: She'll arrive wearing a Power Wristband, which gives her punches a strength boost.
